Burlington pilot partner: Halton Environmental Network
Halton Environmental Network (HEN) is an incorporated non-profit organization operating in the Region of Halton since 2004. HEN supports and enhances the capacity for local climate action and environmental sustainability across the region of Halton. HEN facilitates communication, cooperation, resources and alignment with other NPG's, Government, Faith Based Communities, School boards and the Private and Public sector. HEN has two successful programs Halton Green Screens and Greening Sacred Spaces Halton/Peel. Pilot Resilience Animator Lisa Kohler and her Lighthouse team are working with City staff and first responders in the City of Burlington. Together they are monitoring, documenting and learning from the ongoing development of Brampton's Lighthouse Project. Bramptons' model demonstrates how emergency managers can build capacity for local emergency response with the help of trained volunteers who are already active in their communities as members of their faith groups |
